(COLUMBUS) - A Columbus man was arrested early Wednesday morning after he reported to police that he was being chased by another man, then led responding officers on a short chase.
Police say 33-year-old Nathaniel Ayers was preliminarily charged with Possession of Marijuana and Resisting Law Enforcement after the incident that took place at approximately 1:30 a.m. in a strip mall parking lot on National Road.
According to the report, Columbus Police Patrolman Marc Hutcheson responded to the area after dispatchers received a call from a man who said he was being chased. Hutcheson found Ayers, who appeared to be intoxicated. That, according to Lt. Matt Myers, CPD spokesman.
Police found no one else in the area. However, they did learn that Ayers was wanted on a warrant out of Oklahoma. Ayers ran from Hutcheson but was taken into custody after a short chase, Myers said.
Ayers was booked into the Bartholomew County Jail.
