(SALEM) - A Salem man has been arrested for allegedly molesting a minor relative.
Roy A. Harmon, 34, Salem, was arrested and jailed for sexual misconduct with a minor, a Class C felony, stemming from the alleged abuse.
The victim's mother called police last week to report the suspected molestation and that he had left his residence with a gun.
The woman told police after learning about the alleged incident, she confronted Harmon, who denied anything had happened.
The girl told law enforcement officers the male relative had raped her and that she tried to push him off and told him to stop. She said he was "very drunk," at the time, according to the police report.
When he was interviewed, Harmon initially told police that he didn't think anything had happened. Later, he remembered several things that the victim had told police. He said he was very drunk at the time. Harmon said he felt guilty "because he knew it was wrong, so he took [her] fishing," according to the police report.
Harmon remains incarcerated on a bond of $5,00 full cash; $1000 cash/$20,000 surety or $1000 cash/$40,000 property. His next scheduled court appearance is July 5.
