The first accident was a 1:01 p.m. on Broadview Drive near 29th Street.
According to a Bedford Police report, 37-year-old Joseph Blake, of Bedford, was traveling south on Broadview Drive when he was reaching for a cigarette and that caused him to drift his 2009 Kia Rio over the center line. He hit a 1997 Ford Ranger driven by 18-year-old Joseph Hampton, of Bedford, head-on.
Blake's daughter, 14, was riding in the front seat of the Kia. She complained of head pain after the wreck and was to be taken by private vehicle for a checkup.
Hampton also complained of head pain after the wreck but declined immediate treatment.
The second wreck was reported at 1:22 p.m. on Fourth Street.
According to a Bedford police report, Sonja K. Blanton, of Bedford, was sitting in the front passenger seat of a 2003 Chevrolet Impala parked on Fourth Street near Lincoln Avenue. Blanton and a witness to the wreck told police a large black truck backed out of Dairyland across Fourth Street, hit the parked car and drove off toward Oolitic.
Blanton suffered head and neck pain. She was taken by ambulance to Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
