(DUBOIS) - Three local tattoo artists addressed the Dubois County Commissioners and gave their input for a proposed ordinance for operations at local tatoo parlors and shops.
The proposed ordinance defines permitting of both tattoo facilities and artists. It also requires tattoo facilities maintain records of all tattoos and body piercings they conduct.
The ordinance also requires parlors to have what is called bloodborne pathogens training and it set out specifications for equipment such as needles and instruments and other requirements.
Donna Oeding with the Dubois County Health Department says the ordinance is needed to ensure the health and safety of those receiving tattoos.
The commissioners are expected to vote on the new ordinance when it meets June 18th.
