(BEDFORD) - 62-year-old Charles Ashley, of Bedford, suffered minor injuries after his 1990 Geo Metro was hit by a semi-tractor trailer and his car flipped in the median.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, Ashley was traveling south on Ind. 37 and approaching the U.S. 50 junction north of Golden Gables when the accident happened at 5:51 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Police say Ashley was in the right lane and was near the cab of the truck, driven by 48-year-old Timothy Leisgang, of Cincinnati. Leisgang started to change lanes and the truck hit Ashley's vehicle, causing Ashley to lose control.
Leisgang told police he didn't see Ashley's car because it was in his blind spot.
When Ashley lost control he spun around the 2004 Kenworth semi and his car hit the truck's left bumper, causing the Metro to spin and flip coming to a stop on its top in the median.
Ashley, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor bleeding to his head, but declined medical treatment at the scene. Leisgang was not injured.
