(SELLERSBURG) - 53-year-old Scott Bell, a Bedford, truck driver was involved in a wreck that sent 45-year-old Jerry Cullins, of Borden to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Thursday.
According to Indiana State Police, the crash happened about 4:30 p.m. and closed U.S. 31 for hours just north of Hamburg Pike in Clark County.
The crash involved a white 2005 Freightliner semi-tractor and flatbed trailer loaded with a Ford passenger van, Bell, and a red 1988 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck driven by Cullins.
According to an Indiana state police investigation Cullins was traveling north on U.S. 31 when his truck crossed the center line and struck the southbound Freightliner driven by Bell head-on.
Bell was not injured. Cullins was flown by helicopter to University Hospital in Louisville Both men were wearing their seat belts.
An ISP Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting in the investigation, along with Indiana State Police Motor Carrier officers. The Sellersburg Police Department assisted at the crash scene.
