(BLOOMFIELD) - The Bloomfield Town Council passed a resolution declaring Aug. 22, 2012 “B.J. Yoho Day.”
Sabrina Westfall, of the Greene County Daily World reports, Yoho is a 10-year-old Eastern Greene Elementary student who was born with spina bifida. He has been a patient of Riley Children's Hospital since birth.
Council President Eric Harrah was contacted by Riley Children's Foundation Communications Intern Kate Hendrickson for consideration of the resolution because Yoho - known by many at Riley as "B.J. Claus" -- was chosen as one of the 2012 Children's Miracle Network Riley Champions.
Yoho has undergone 16 surgeries since birth, yet still makes time to help the other children in the hospital.
"B.J. collects toys for the children at Riley Hospital and passes them out during the holiday season," Hendrickson wrote in the formal request.
Riley and Eastern Greene Elementary will be honoring Yoho on Aug. 22 at a school-wide assembly. He will also be given a copy of the resolution, and a plaque from the town of Bloomfield.
Town attorney Luke Rudisell, of Rowe Law Firm, offered to prepare the resolution free of charge.
