(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Board of Works approved a proposal to obtain quotes for general liability, property, auto and workers compensation insurance for policy year beginning August 30th, 2012 to August 30th, 2013.
Seven copies of sealed proposals for general liability, property, commercial automobile and workers compensation insurance will be received by the city of Bedford until 1:30 p.m. on Monday August 20th at Bedford City Hall, at which time all proposals will be publicly opened and read aloud. Any proposal received later than this will be returned unopened. The effective dates of coverage will be from August 3,, 2012 to August 30, 2012.
Insurance specification and employee Relations Coordinator, detailed loss reports may be obtained in person or by mail beginning July 17th from Kyle Brown, human resource department, at City Hall between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Questions should be directed to Brown at 279-6555 or by email at kbrown@bedford.in.us.
Each proposal shall be sealed in envelopes and marked "City of Bedford - General Liability, Property, Commercial Automobile and Workers Compensation Insurance Proposal.
All proposals should be formatted in a manner that clearly shows the total cost of all four coverages and also outlines the specific cost for each particular line of coverage in a stand-alone scenario. Also, if your carrier is providing a discounted rate for a multi-line quote, please indicate that level of discount and any other qualifying criteria that may create a change in the proposal.
A group consisting of the Board of Public Works, Mayor Shawna Girgis, and Employee Relations Coordinator Kyle Brown as well as other senior staff will review the proposals and will notify the public of their selection at a specially scheduled Board of Public Works meeting.
This committee will make this selection based upon the overall desire to provide the maximum protection to the City of Bedford at the best cost to the taxpayers.
No proposal may be withdrawn within a period of 30 days following the date set for receiving bids.
The City of Bedford reserves the right to hold any and all proposals for a period of not more than 30 days and all proposals shall be and remain valid and in full force and effect during said period.
The City of Bedford reserves the right to reject any and all proposals in whole and to waive any informality and to award the business to the proposal which best suits the City of Bedford.
In other business the board:
* Approved a proposal by Bedford Fire Chief Jon Wagner to add to two people to the review committee for the Bedford Fire Department. The committee will now have five people on the committee and will now include the training officer and a battalion chief. The committee reviews promotions and year-end probation periods.
* Approved a curb cut proposed by Kathy Roll at 1826 H Street. The cut will be 13 feet wide and 20 feet long and 50 inches deep. It will allow for storm rain to run from the property.
