(COLUMBUS) - A Columbus man was arrested after bags of heroin were allegedly tossed from his sport utility vehicle’s window during a low-speed police chase in downtown Columbus late Monday night.
The Republic reports that 30-year-old Justin A. Bowles was arrested after a chase at about 20 to 25 mph. Police say the chase began about 10:30 p.m. Monday when Columbus Police Patrolman Kyle Young recognized Bowles, a convicted habitual traffic violator, driving in the area of 14th Street and Cottage Avenue.
Police spokesperson Lt. Matt Myers says Bowles refused to stop for Young, which resulted in a "slow pursuit."
Myers says that during the chase, Young saw Bowles throw an item of out his SUV. He said other officers arrived and found the item, which field tests showed to be more than 14 grams of heroin with a street value of more than $2,000.
