(MARTINSVILLE) - A Tuesday afternoon blaze that began as a grass fire along Ind. 37 spread to nearly five acres along the highway, causing crews to shut down the southbound lanes shortly after 1 p.m.
The blaze was south of Martinsville, near Turkey Track Road, and was extinguished by 3 p.m., according to dispatch with the Department of Natural Resources.
Martinsville, Paragon and Washington Township fire departments responded to the scene.
