(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Community Foundation Board of Directors has awarded over $22,600 to 12 local agencies who submitted proposals for the 2012 open grant cycle.
Funding for the annual grant application process was provided by the following endowments funds. LLCF Unrestricted Fund, Wilber C. Dollens Fund, Bob Bridge Fund, Chloral Hilderbrand Community Grants, Patrick and Sharon Robbins Fund for Lawrence County, Ralph W. "Shorty" & Bette R. Robinson Fund, LCCF Memorials and Tributes Fund and the LCCF Education Fund.
Bill Mullis, Chairman of the Grants Committee, says "The committee is pleased that we could award a number of grants that were specifically directed toward helping a large number of local residents. We awarded grants aimed at providing for preschool-age children, school-age children, and adults in various at-risk categories. Grants were also awarded that provide funding for two local park projects. All in all, we thought the grants we awarded were worthwhile projects designed to meet a number of local needs."
The Grants Committee for the foundation is composed of select board members and community representatives.

Catholic Charities Becky's Place- Shelter for Women and Children $3,000
Hoosier Hills Food Bank, Mobile Food Pantry Produce Project $3,500
Hope Resource Center Teen Parenting Program $900
Judah Heritage Group Judah Park $2,000
Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services We Do Hairdo's $500
Lawrence County Concert Association Blair Carmen Matinee Concert at BNL $500
Mitchell Community Public Library Tumble Into Reading $1,188
Pleasant Run Park Inc. Heltonville Community Park Project $3,500
Success & Opportunity At Reading SOAR $2,150
