(SALEM) - A Salem man led city and county police officers on a high speed chase last Wednesday evening which began and ended at a residence at 1012 N. Hayes Ave.
Travis K. Hollen, 29, faces a D felony charge for resisting law enforcement and misdemeanor charges for reckless driving and criminal recklessness.
The situation began when Deputy Brad Naugle of the Washington County Sheriff's Department attempted to stop Hollen to serve an outstanding warrant for invasion of privacy.
Hollen disregarded Naugle's lights and sirens and the chase was on. He headed out of town on State Road 135 North on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. As he slowed to turn off the highway, the front tire of the motorcycle struck a police vehicle. The chase continued onto Water Tower Road, Rinkers Creek to Pump Station, where Hollen allegedly tried to drive head-on into a police vehicle. Hollen also attempted to pass police cars at high rates of speed, at one point traveling the center line between a police car and an oncoming vehicle.
Hollen drove back onto the highway and headed south, taking a gravel lane and driving through a field and back onto Hayes Avenue. He parked the motorcycle and ran inside, where he was located and arrested.
Hollen was driving the motorcycle with an expired plate. His driver's license was also expired and had been suspended.
