(MITCHELL) - A man was injured after he lost control of his Chevrolet Corvette as he was pulling out of the drive at Pioneer Creek Apartments in Mitchell Sunday night.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 38-year-old Chad Rayhill was pulling out of the drive at Pioneer Creek Apartments onto Ind. 60 East when he lost control of his 1992 Corvette and spun around and was hit in the rear of a 2007 Pontiac G6 driven by 23-year-old Ashton Melvin, of Mitchell. Rayhill's Corvette then went over the embankment.
Melvin had slowed to pulling into the apartment lot when the accident happened.
Melvin was not injured. Rayhill complained of neck and back pain and was taken to IU Health Bedford Hospital.
Rayhill was cited for unsafe start and driving left of the center line. He could also be facing charges of reckless driving. The case has been sent to the Lawrence County Prosecutor's Office for review.
