(MITCHELL) - The Fourth of July fireworks show will go on as scheduled in Mitchell Wednesday night, despite the dry conditions.
The fireworks will be let off at dark at Lehigh Field.
Firefighters will stand by at the show in case the fireworks spark a field fire. In addition, the fire department will spray down the field in advance of the show to make sure the area is moist and less able to catch fire.
Firefighters are reminding citizens attending the display at Lehigh Field that all personal use of fireworks are not permitted due to the dry conditions.
This includes those viewing the display from the Industrial Park on Hamilton Boulevard.
Firefighters are urging all residents to use common sense when setting off fireworks.
