(MORGAN COUNTY) - 54-year-old Jesse Elmore, of Morgan County, is being charged with attempted murder after an alleged altercation in which he pointed a gun at a man’s head and the gun misfired.
According to a probable cause affidavit Elmore attacked Thomas Norris while Norris was sitting in a vehicle with another person outside a home in Brookly.
Police alleged Norris approached Elmore in the car and says he was looking for him and it was time to die.
Elmore then pulled Norris out of the vehicle, pointed a handgun at his head and pulled the trigger twice. According to Brooklyn Town Marshal Chris Hester the weapon misfired both times.
Elmore became enraged because the weapon did not fire and began beating Norris' head. Norris says he blacked out and does not remember police arriving.
Norris was treated at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was later transferred to Wishard Hospital for treatment and later released.
Norris told police the altercation might have been over family matters or business dealings. Elmore was arrested Wednesday night and is in the Morgan County Jail.
