(BEDFORD) - Mike Mitchell, director of the Parks Department reports revenue at Otis Park is up $50,000 over last season at this juncture.
Mitchell says large waters bill are expected because of the drought.
Mitchell says the Parks Department has to water the greens in order to protect their investments.
But the high temperatures and the extended drought has not stopped golfers from teeing off.
Mitchell says more golfers are playing at Otis Park because it's a great course, with reasonable prices and is in better shape then other area courses.
Mike Mahoney, golf manager at Otis, reported 15,103 rounds have been logged at the venue this year, an increase of 2,610 over the 2011 season.
Mahoney reported that the course is especially busy during the mornings.
Board member Angela Sanders inquired about the possibility of adding more drinking water stations to the course. Mitchell said a plan to reroute water from the soccer complex toward No. 12 is in the works, but the project must be delayed until digging conditions are more suitable.
