(WASHINGTION) - If you can sing or dance, play an instrument, dazzle an audience with magic or make us laugh, then we are looking for you. Mark the date on your calendar for a great evening of entertainment, Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 8 p.m.
It will soon be time for the Hoosier Idol Talent Search at the Washington County Fair which has categories for Male Vocal (solo), Female Vocal (solo), Vocal Group, Instrumental (group or solo), Gospel (group or solo) or Miscellaneous. Each performance must be three to five minutes long and a professional sound system will be provided.
If there are five or more entries per each category then the winner of each category will receive $200. If there are five or fewer entries in any category, the award will be $100. The winner of each category will be determined by a committee of judges.
Also, the highest placing youth entry in each category may be eligible to compete at the Indiana State Fair which consists of two divisions, Junior Division, 12 years old or younger and Senior Division, 13 to 21 years of age.
An overall winner will be selected by the judges (50 percent) and popular vote of ticket holders in the grandstand (50 percent). The overall winner will receive an additional $300.
Because of time allotted for this competition, total number of entries will be limited to 30 acts.
Entries will be accepted until Saturday, July 28. The entry fee is $10 per act, which should be mailed to Jeanette Nolan, 945 N Rush Creek Rd, Salem, IN 47167. If you have any questions, please call 812-620- 9189 or 812-620-9118.
