(WASHINGTON) - 25-year-old Jarret Whitehead, of Washington was injured after he was thrown from his car after a police chase early Wednesday morning.
The chase started at 12:42 a.m. when Washington City Patrolman Brandon Humphries saw Whitehead putting gas in his Cadillac and then leaving the lot without paying. Humphries ran out of the Shell station and yelled, "police, stop." but Whitehead left at a high rate of speed.
Officer Humphries got into his vehicle and gave chase north on County Road 150 West.
Whitehead attempted to turn east on County Road 300 North and lost control of his car. the Cadillac, slid sideways and hit an embankment.
Whitehead was not wearing his seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. He was airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville.
Charges are pending.
