(BLOOMINGTON) - 44-year-old Tina Rogers, who is homeless, was arrested for battering a police officer and resisting arrest after she got into an arguing with her boyfriend, urinating in a public space and hitting a Bloomington Police Department officer with the passenger door of a cab.
At about 4:42 p.m. Saturday, Sgt. Dana Cole says officers were called of a half-naked woman urinating on the sidewalk at the intersection of East Sixth and North Lincoln. There police found Rogers, who told police she had got into a domestic fight with her boyfriend after he accused her of kissing another man.
Because she was intoxicated and unable to walk, and because officers wanted to separate her from her boyfriend to prevent the argument from continuing, Cole says they called Rogers a cab. Once the cab arrived, she got inside, Rogers then allegedly swung the door back open, hitting an officer.
Police say Rogers then refused to get out of the cab and had to be forcibly removed by two officers.
Rogers was then taken to IU Health Bloomington hospital because she was intoxicated before being taken to the Monroe County Jail. She was charged with battery of a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
