(UNDATED) - Fall is around the corner and sporting events are kicking off.

Boys Club signing football players

The Thornton Memorial Boys Club will accept pre-registrations for football for grades 1-6 through Aug. 10 at the Club.

Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration/equipment pick up dates are as follows: Grades five and six, Aug. 13; grades three and four, Aug. 14; grades one and two, Aug. 16. Equipment pick-up will start at 6 p.m., each night.

Also, karate registrations are currently being accepted through Friday for children ages 5 and above.

Mitchell selling season tickets

Mitchell High School season tickets are on sale for the 2012 football season and continuing through the first home contest with the Brownstown Braves on Aug. 17.

The cost of the adult season ticket is $20, and the student season ticket will be $15. Regular varsity football gate admission will be $5. There are five regular season home contest this year.

The athletic department will also offer the family all-sport passes for only high school athletic events for $145. These passes are good for the immediate family unit, father, mother and children, living in one household. This pass will admit family members to every athletic event MHS hosts this year with the exception of any IHSAA tournament games or special PLAC Conference athletic events.

Also available from the high school athletic department will be a family all-sport pass good for all athletic events at both the high school and junior high. These passes are good for the immediate family unit, father, mother and children, living in one household. This pass will admit family members to every athletic event at the junior high and high school with the exception of any IHSAA tournament games or special PLAC Conference athletic events. The cost of this pass is $220.

Also for sale will be a single adult or student all-sport pass that can be purchased for $115. These are good for both junior high and high school athletic events with the same guidelines as the other all-sport passes.

All of these all-sport passes are available in the athletic director's office during regular school hours through Sept. 3. They will also be available at the first home varsity football game with Brownstown.

Orbit Futbol Club hosting Orbit Day

The club will conducting Orbit Day on Aug. 11 at the soccer fields at Otis Park. Orbit Day will provide an opportunity to meet and greet your coach and play a preseason round-robin tournament. Games will begin at 9:30 a.m. Each player needs to bring a red and white shirt.

Late registrations can be completed on Orbit Day from 8 to 9 a.m., prior to the beginning of the tournament. On-line registration can be completed at www.orbitsoccer.com.

Riley Hospital Benefit Tournament

A men's and women's Riley Hospital Benefit Tournament is scheduled for Aug. 11-12 at Murray Park. Entry fee is $200 and all proceeds go to the Riley Children's Hospital. There will also be a Home Run Derby with an entry fee of $20.
