(BEDFORD) - Firefighters from the Bedford Fire Department rescued a woman that was stuck in an elevator at Cambridge Square Apartments Saturday morning.
According to BFD Chief Jon Wagner, firefighters were able to use the elevator key to open the elevator and rescue the woman a little before 8 a.m. Saturday.
"We use this strange looking key to open the elevator and hope the elevator has stopped in a position that we can easily help who ever is stuck," Wagner says. "You have to be careful when opening the door cause sometimes all you see is the elevator shaft."
Wagner says the elevator was stuck in a position where firefighters were able to get the woman out easily.
"Sometimes the elevator is stuck in a position where they can just walk out, other times it may be a few feet below or above the door and we will have them slid out and get them out of there. Then you get a repair man to fix the problem."
