(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested on allegations of child molesting.
According to Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig, police arrested 29-year-old Derick Sanchez on two counts of child molesting.
Craig says that police receive a report of possible child molestation at a church in the 4000 block of Old State Road 37 on Friday night. The incident happened at the church during a back-to-school event.
When police arrived at the church, they interviewed witnesses and the 12-year-old male victim, who was taken to IU Health Bedford Hospital to be examined.
The male is not related to Sanchez.
Police attempted to locate Sanchez at several residences, but were unable to find him.
Later that evening Sanchez went to the Bedford Police Department and inquired about police looking for him.
Craig says, Bedford officers contacted county officers and Sanchez was interviewed and arrested.
Craig says the case remains under investigation.
