(BLOOMINGTON) - John Switzer, 58, was booked Monday afternoon into the Monroe County Correctional Facility for allegedly setting fire to his ex-girlfriend’s 1998 Acura Integra in January.
Sgt. Brad Seifers said the fire was set with sparklers and accelerant.
Switzer and his then girlfriend were reported to have been arguing for two days leading up to the arson incident on Jan. 30.
The woman reported that she went to let her dog out around 11 p.m.
Upon doing so, she found a burning wax candle on her car with the base melted to the hood.
About an hour later, a neighbor called to inform her that the car was ablaze.
Switzer is facing a D-felony Arson charge.
