(BLOOMINGTON) - Charges of battery and strangulation are pending against a 29-year-old Bloomington man after an early-morning domestic disturbance Sunday.
A woman called 911 at 2:40 a.m. to report her boyfriend had tried to strangle her, twice, and that she had locked herself inside a bedroom.
Five children, ranging in age from 5 to 10, were inside the apartment during the dispute.
When officers arrived, the woman crawled out a window and met them out front.
She told police her boyfriend of 12 years was intoxicated and that they had an argument about him driving her van
That is when he allegedly grabbed her around the neck with both hands, she broke free and that he then grabbed her by the neck again.
The man who was intoxicated, was taken to Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital and admitted.
Bloomington Police Department Sgt. John Kovach says a warrant is being sought for the man's arrest and that is why his name is not being released.
