(PAOLI) - A number of performers have signed up to entertain during Saturday’s fifth annual Good Samaritan Fund dinner in Paoli.
Among those who will perform between 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. are the Crawford County Community Band, Grandview Junction, Pete Webb, Warriors for Christ and Sacred Calling.
The dinner will be served at the Paoli United Methodist Church, which is on Ind. 56 on the east side of Paoli. The only cost will be in the form of a freewill offering.
Dinner will be prepared by Tillie Drake and Robert Lowe of Fat Buddy's Barbecue, using recipes that the now-deceased Kevin Drake prepared when he operated the catering service. Desserts will be prepared by volunteers. A silent auction will take place, with donations including local handmade items, furniture and items provided by local retailers.
The event will raise money for the Good Samaritan Fund of the Orange County Community Foundation.
The fund assists Orange County residents who have financial needs based on catastrophic circumstances. Through community contributions and investments by the foundation, the fund has grown to nearly $60,000, plus a pass-through fund to handle the day-to-day needs of county community families in need. Since 2005, with the assistance of the ministerial associations in the community, the funds have been distributed to more than 90 families, totaling more than $48,000, in addition to $47,000 going to fire victims.
Anyone who has questions about the fundraiser or who would like to volunteer time, prepare desserts or donate silent auction items should call Martha Lambdin at (812) 723-2523.
