(NEWBERRY) - INDOT will hold a public hearing regarding the State Road 57 Newberry Bridge replacement projects in Greene County.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 14th at 6 p.m., at the Masonic Lodge, at 2nd and Broad Streets, in Newberry.
The purpose of the public hearing is to offer all interested persons an opportunity to comment on the current design plans on the proposed bridge replacements over the White River and the overflow of White River, approximately 6 miles north of State Road 58.
The trusses are recommended for replacement due to limited bridge clear roadway width. The main White River crossing will consist of a nine span concrete bridge which will consist of two 12 feet travel lanes with 4 feet shoulders on each side.
The proposed alignment is to be built adjacent to existing State Road 57 approximately 50 feet downstream.
Traffic is to be maintained on the existing structure during the construction. INDOT will work with stakeholders to provide a proposed design that addresses concerns and comments received at the hearing while working within design and financial constraints.
INDOT reminds motorists to follow the posted work zone speed limit, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a work zone. For the latest news and information about INDOT, please visit www.in.gov/indot or www.trafficwise.in.gov.
