Krystal shetler, of the Times-Mail reports, the biggest issue facing Mitchell, according to the survey, was jobs at 63.4 percent.
Following was crime with 46.5 percent. Residents identified that crime seems to be a problem on Dale, Warren and Frank streets, focusing more on the east side of town.
They believe housing rehabilitation is a citywide problem, and sidewalks can be improved throughout the city with a focus on adding some to Hancock Avenue and putting better lighting on Main Street.
Storm drainage and flooding appears to be a problem in Hel-Mar Acres, East Frank Street and Pleasant View.
Another focus was on the redevelopment of the former Carpenter property.
Eric Frye, executive director of Administrative Resources association, the city's grant-writing firm, will turn the ideas into a plan the city can use to move forward.
Most people said the community needs a youth center and park and recreational facilities. They also wanted the city to improve its sidewalks, drainage and streets.
Rresidents really see job creation and economic development as the main priorities for Mitchell.
In the future, residents say they would like to see a community filled with great volunteers, wonderful festivals and community gatherings, an improved housing market, a diverse and business-friendly economy and good schools.
