(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was injured after his vehicle was rear-ended on U.S. 60 East Friday.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 60-year-old Kenneth Atchinson, of Mitchell, had just left the VFW after eating and was traveling west on U.S. 60 east when his 1997 Buick LaSabre was hit in the rear by a 1991 Ford Ranger, driven by 30-year-old Edward Higgs, of Mitchell.
Higgs told police he looked down at his speed and when he looked up he had hit Atchinson's car.
Atchinson complained of should pain, but declined medical attention at the scene. Higgs was not injured.
Higgs was cited for false and fictitious registration and failure to provide proof of insurance.
Higgs told police he had just bought the Ranger and didn't have insurance yet. He was given the ticket for false and fictitious registration because the Ranger had a license plate registered to a 2003 Chevrolet on the vehicle.
