(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was injured after a crash on U.S. 50 west near Poplar Lane Tuesday afternoon.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 59-year-old David Brewer, was traveling east on U.S. 50 west and had stopped to turn into a driveway, when his 1991 Mercury was hit by a semi tractor-trailer driven by 24-year-old Matthew Roach, of Bedford.
Roach told police Brewer stopped suddenly and he didn't see Brewer's turn signal because of the sun's glare off the back of Brewer's car.
Roach told police he attempted to go around Brewer's car and that is when Brewer turned in front of the semi. The semi hit Brewer's car in the driver's side.
Brewer was trapped in the car and had to be freed by Bedford firefighters. Also at the scene were Huron Volunteer Firefighters and IU Health ambulance.
Police say Brewer suffered a fracture or dislocated shoulder.
Roach was not injured.
