(ORANGE COUNTY) - Orange County REMC received several phone calls Monday regarding a check scam.
Individuals both in state and out of state have received UPS envelopes with Orange County REMC as the return address.
Inside are checks made out to the individual, from Hoover Material Handling Company out of Houston, Texas.
Orange County REMC has contacted Hoover Material Handling Company and they are aware of the problem and have made their bank aware of the issue.
If anyone receives a check, please do not cash it, this is a scam.
All of the phone calls received are from individuals who have had recent contact with someone on Craig's List.
