(BEDFORD) - The city of Bedford is in a 3-year-year paving project and on Monday they will complete the final two phases of the Mitchell Road.
Paving will be done all the way to Sandpit Road and completed on Tuesday.
Milestone won the bid to do the project in June.
"Last year, we paved Mitchell Road from 16th Street to 25th Street," Dan Kirk, Bedford Street Commissioner explained. "This year, the second phase will be from 25th Street as far as we can go while spending about $100,000. We'd like to get south of 32nd Street. The last phase will finish the 2.5 mile stretch to the end of the city limits."
Kirk says because of a mild winter the city was able to save money on salt, sand and overtime hours.
