(ELLETTSVILLE) - Police have released a sketch of a man wanted in the armed sexual assault of a woman behind an Ellettsville gas station.
The woman came forward last month to report that she had been sexually assaulted at knifepoint Oct. 9, 2011, behind a gas station in the 4200 block of W. State Road 46.
The 38-year-old told police she was parked on the east side of the gas station sending a text message at about 4:30 p.m. when a man approached and asked for directions.
The man then opened the car door, forced the woman from the vehicle at knifepoint and took her to a wooded area behind the building, where he sexually assaulted her, she told police.
The woman told police she had been afraid to come forward sooner because the man told her he knew who she was and how to find her if she called police.
The man was last seen driving a turquoise Ford Ranger pickup truck.
He was described as white with tanned skin, between 30 and 40 years old with a tattoo on the right side of his neck that looked like a throwing star or a tribal sun.
The man was wearing blue jeans, a gray T-shirt and muddy brown work boots, the woman said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Craig Davis at the Ellettsville Police Department at 812-876-2270.
