Last updated on Thursday, August 16, 2012

(MITCHELL) - A New Lisbon truck driver was injured after his semi and trailer went off the road and overturned, Wednesday afternoon.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 44-year-old Bret Olson, was traveling east on U.S. 50 West, near Stumphole Bridge Road when the right front tire of the 2012 Freightliner he was driving went off the south edge of the road.

Police say Olson could not get the semi back on the roadway and it traveled down an embankment hit a utility pole and then a fence causing the semi and trailer to overturn.

Olson complained of neck pain.

According to witnesses, one that had followed the semi from Loogootee and another who had followed it from Shoals, say the semi driver was all over the road and had crossed the center line several times.

Lawrence County Sheriff Department dispatchers had received several calls reporting the driver's actions and concerns the driver was going to cause a wreck.

Police did request a blood draw at the hospital and are awaiting results.

The semi and trailer are owned by Western Express, in Nashville, TN.
