(INDIANAPOLIS) - A skull found in the White River last month is not connected to the Lauren Spierer case, the Marion County Coroner revealed Friday.
Preliminary findings show the skull has characteristics consistent with those of an East or Southeast Asian man. It was found on July 8 in the White River on the south side.
The coroner ruled out that the skull was that of missing IU student Lauren Spierer, who disappeared in June 2011 in Bloomington.
Additional DNA tests are being performed to assist with identification, the coroner said.
