(SPRINGVILLE) - Two partial skulls were found in a bag in a barn at 1292 Greer Lane today.
The two partial skulls were found in a bag in the loft of a barn at the William Kast farm. The family had been in the loft cleaning it out.
The family has lived at the home for more than 23 years and told Lawrence County Coroner John Sherrill they have no idea how the skulls could have got there. The barn is located a distance from the Kast's home.
Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig says after the department received the call, officers responded and then once they realized what was found, they contacted the coroner and then the skulls were collected by an Indiana State Police evidence technician.
After the skulls were collected they were sent to Sherrill sent digital photos to Dr. Stephen Nawrocki at the University of Indianapolis. Nawrocki believes the skulls are human and requested they skulls be sent to him for further analysis.
"We have no reason to believe there is any foul play involved," Craig says. "We will wait Dr. Nawrocki's examination to determine if any further investigation is needed."
Sherrill said he doesn't expect to hear from Nawroki for several weeks.
