(TAYLORSVILLE) - General Motors is suing the Wiese GM dealership alleging the dealer breached an agreement by failing to meet a sales target in 2011.
The Republic report, after GM's bankruptcy filing in 2009, GM restructured its dealer network, and about 120 dealerships that were targeted to be closed remained open after their owners reached an agreement with GM to meet certain requirements, including improved customer service and sales, said Ryndee Carney, manager of business media strategy for GM.
Carney says the vast majority of the 120 dealerships met or exceeded their objectives, but a small number did not meet their objectives. She would not disclose the specific number.
Carney said that in all of the cases in which dealers did not meet the targets, GM is exercising its option to purchase certain assets as outlined by the agreements.
On June 20, GM filed in U.S. District Court, Southern District of Indiana, a civil lawsuit against Bob Wiese Oldsmobile Inc., identifying as his principal place of business the dealership at 10265 U.S. 31 North in Taylorsville.
