(SWITZ CITY) - The president of the White River Valley Board of School Trustees said he didn’t want to comment on what transpired at an executive session meeting Tuesday night, reported to be called to consider personnel matters.
Nick Schneider, of the Greene County Daily World reports, among the matters that were discussed in the closed-door meeting, that reportedly lasted more than two hours, was the employment future of WRV Superintendent Layton Wall.
WRV Board President Jason Davidson told the Greene County Daily World on Wednesday morning he did not want to comment on the executive session.
Davidson did say the board has moved its regular meeting to August 9th at 7 p.m.
When asked if anything that happened at the Tuesday night executive session would be on the agenda for the regular meeting, Davidson replied, "I don't want to comment on that now."
During an interview last week, Wall told the Greene County Daily World that the executive session was to consider his future employment status.
Wall stated, "It may not be best for the community for me to stay (as superintendent) ... I may leave."
A November 14th, 2011 arrest of Wall by an Indianapolis City Police officer outside the Westin Hotel in Indianapolis for public intoxication while attending a school-related function recently came to the attention of school board members.
Wall was given a Portable Breath Test (PBT) and registered .16 percent -- twice the legal limit for intoxication in the state.
After the arrest, Wall entered a guilty plea to the Class C misdemeanor charge as part of negotiated plea agreement.
He was sentenced in Marion County Superior Community Court 12 on November 15th 2011 to no jail time, other than the overnight stay he had in the Marion County lockup following his arrest.
Wall was given eight hours of community service, which he served at the Marion County Courthouse in the maintenance department on January 7th, according to the plea agreement filed with the court.
The superintendent was also ordered to stay away from the Westin Hotel for the period of December 14th, 2011 to February 14th.
The charge was dismissed February 14th by the Marion County Prosecutor's office after Wall completed terms of his plea deal.
The 56-year-old Wall came to the superintendent's post in the 2004-05 school year with 15 years of teaching experience with the WRV corporation.
