(BEDFORD) - Bedford Fire Department Lieutenant Jay Faubion was honored for his actions on Wednesday, August 29th during a special Bedford Board of Works meeting Friday.
BFD Chief Jon Wagner told the board Faubion was driving past a home in the 300 block of North Shawswick Station Road when he noticed smoke bellowing from the roof of the home and stop to alert the homeowners Jeff and Kim Cummings their house was on fire.
Kim says if it wasn't for Faubion, they would not have woke.
Faubion is also credited for saving the families three pets, before he helped firefighters from Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department and several other VFDs extinguish the blaze.
Wagner says Faubion went beyond the call of duty. Mayor Shawn Girgis thanked and praised Faubion for his actions.
