(NEW ALBANY) - For those who love the Halloween season, be sure to put the Culbertson Mansion State Historic Site on your radar as a “must visit” destination from Sept. 22 through Nov. 3.
From the legendary Haunted House to the children's Halloween Tea, families will find a wide variety of spooks and scares to enjoy during the ghostly season.
This year, the mansion's Literally, A Haunted House event is entering its 28th year in operation and the site's biggest and best known event. Held in the property's carriage house, this event is not for the faint of heart and annually attracts large crowds from across the tri-state region. Each year, the staff and their many volunteers work very hard to make the event an unforgettable experience for all who have the courage to go through.
For more fearless patrons, Culbertson Mansion offers a Ghost Watch Undertaking Sleepover on Sept. 22 and Nov. 3. Brave guests can enjoy a candlelight dinner, a ghost tour and a scavenger hunt before attempting to make it through the night. This adult-only event kicks off the Halloween season and reservations are required.
Another very popular event is the Ghostly Happenings Tour that begins mid-October. This in-depth tour offers visitors over the age of 12 the opportunity to explore the mansion and carriage house more personally and hear stories from volunteers who have experienced some unexplainable happenings while at the site.
