(BLOOMINGTON) - Police arrested 30-year-old Jon Montgomery and 30-year-old Alisha Montgomery, of Huron, after a concerned citizen found the two, night asleep and covered in vomit, sitting in the front seat of a running car with a 9-day-old baby in the back seat.
Jon was charged with neglect of a dependent and possession of a controlled substance.
Alisha faces charges of neglect of a dependent and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Police were called to the used car section of Bloomington Ford, on South Walnut Street at 7:35 p.m. Friday.
According to Bloomington Sgt. Lucas Tate, the couple were found passed out in vomit in the front seat of a running 2000 Chevrolet Impala, a 9-day-old girl was in a car seat in the back.
A concerned citizen found a woman and a man, passed out in vomit, in the front seat of their green 2000 Chevrolet Impala.
Alisha Montgomery, who was in the driver's seat, told police she had taken prescription medication. Police say her speech was slurred and she had difficulty getting out of the car. She also appeared to nod off while police spoke with her. Tate says Alisha filed a field sobriety test and was IU Health Bloomington Hospital to have her blood-drawn for testing.
Jon Montgomery also told police he had taken prescription pills and nodded off while officers interviewed him.
Police found muscle relaxers and anti-anxiety pills in the car. Tate says Some but not all of the pills had been prescribed to the couple.
