(BLOOMINGTON) - Crediting their teamwork and ability to adapt to changing conditions, two May graduates of Indiana University will represent the IU Bass Fishing Club at the National Guard FLW College Fishing National Championship this coming April.
Carol Kugler of the Herald Times reports that they will be one of 20 college teams from across the country competing for the fishing championship.
The two, Steven Bressler and Dustin Vaal, have been roommates, good friends and fishing partners throughout their days at IU. They placed second in the National Guard FLW College Fishing Central Conference tournament conducted Sept. 6-9 at Carlyle Lake in Illinois.
Bressler catch the competition's biggest bass of the day on both Day 1 at 4 pounds, 3 ounces, and Day 3 with a fish that weighed 4 pounds.
Vaal has competed in four regionals and all four national fishing tourneys during his four years at IU. Now living in Bloomington, he hopes to continue fishing as a professional angler.
