(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University is investing $8 million to help develop and deliver online courses at its campuses statewide and extend the university’s global reach.
University officials say the IU Online education initiative will focus on creating undergraduate and graduate degree programs, providing online options for undergraduate courses with high enrollment and exploring new methods of education.
The initiative will also identify programs that can help Indiana improve its workforce development and help reduce the time it takes students to complete degrees.
The $8 million will be spent over three years and will be used to hire additional designers and technicians, expand computer systems and fund an Office of Online Education. Money also will go to academic units on all campuses to develop online programs.
