(CRANE) - McKean Defense Group is the latest to open their doors at WestGate at Crane Tech Park.
Crane Commander Colonel Alan Pratt says McKean is a fairly new defense contractor, but they have operations all across the country, and their roots come right back to Crane.
He added McKean will bring new engineers, different skill sets, new tasking, new technologies and new and innovative ideas.
McKean Defense Group CEO Joe Carlini says the company's first contract with Crane was in March 2007. He says their first office was in Bloomington, because WestGate was not ready. But now they are right outside the gates.
Carlini says the intent is to grow their presence here and be a part of what has become a high tech growth center in southern Indiana.
Crane officials say that despite projected cuts in defense spending they expect the work to continue at Crane and for their contractors.
