(SALEM) - Several residences in Salem have been broken into, or an attempt made, in the past week.
Stephanie Taylor Ferriell of the Leader-Democrat reports that a home on Brandywine Court was broken into last Thursday and an attempt made at another home in that subdivision Monday. Also Monday, a shed was broken into on College Avenue. An East Market Street home was entered Sunday.
The victims say the incidents occurred in broad daylight.
"That's usually not the case," said Salem City Police Officer Terry Corbin. He said some of the cases may be connected, especially the two on Brandywine Court, but "we're not convinced they're all connected."
Also this week, two wallets were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Ridgeview Drive, a portable water pump was taken from a utility trailer on city property on Joseph Street and a window was broken in a garage at Gilstrap Motors. Corbin believes the Gilstrap case was vandalism, not attempted theft.
Anyone with any information about the break-ins or attempted break-ins, is asked to call the Salem City Police at 883-5100.
