(SALEM) - A Salem woman who was sleeping instead of caring for her 4-year-old son was arrested last week and is charged with neglect of a dependent.
Stephanie Taylor Ferriell of the Leader-Democrat reports that 35-year-old Nancy Duffy, was at the home of her father on West Mulberry Street when her sister called police.
The sister told police her father has an active protective order against Duffy. She says her sister, Duff, was passed out inside the home and her nephew was saying his mother was asleep and he was scared.
When officers arrived they woke Duff when they entered the home. Duff was taken to St. Vincent Salem Hospital and given a blood-alcohol test and was found to be more than two time the legal limit for alcohol consumption.
