(UNDATED) - Being a hero isn’t just a character trait for police officers, it’s a job requirement.
What started as one man's effort to thank police officers all over the country has evolved into a nationwide effort led by the Whole Truth Project and Wives Behind the Badge.
On Saturday the public will have an opportunity to thank law enforcement officers in their area. The day has been named Tell a Police Officer Thank You Day.
Wives Behind the Badge, Indiana, is asking businesses to donate goods or services for police officers on the holiday as a way to say thank you.
Some suggested services or donations include meals, haircuts, laundry services, merchandise discounts - or simply a thank you. A list of businesses and their donations will be made available to officers on duty that day.
WBTB Indiana will make arrangements to pick up donations that need to be transported to a designated department.
Businesses or individuals who wish to donate items or services to local police officers should contact Kathy, the Indiana Wives Behind the Badge Auxiliary Director, at indiana.auxiliary@wivesbehindthebadge.org.
