(BLOOMINGTON) - St. Vincent will manage operations for Monroe Hospital.
Officials announced a four-year agreement in which the 22-hospital health care system will manage operations for Monroe Hospital.
Brad Hollinger, chairman of the Monroe Hospital Board, says the hospital is looking forward to working with St.Vincent to offer enhanced services to meet the unique healthcare needs of Monroe Hospital's primary and secondary markets.
St.Vincent Health will oversee quality and safety efforts, physician relations, patient experience, finance, and other functions to increase efficiency and reduce costs, according to the news release.
Monroe Hospital named Ted Lewis, longtime hospital administrator, new interim CEO in July. Lewis that the 32-bed private hospital has struggled financially since it opened in October 2006. He also says that there have been many times when it has been unable to make its lease payments to Medical Properties Trust, the Birmingham, Ala.-based real estate investment trust that owns Monroe Hospital and the land on which it stands.
