(COLUMBUS) - Columbus Police say media coverage and public input brought a burglary investigation to a close and recovered $20,000 worth of stolen property.
Media reports referring to a suspected burglar suffering from a serious laceration led to a victim identifying 28-year-old Eric Doepp as the suspect.
A subsequent search of Doepp and his car uncovered marijuana, paraphernalia and the stolen property.
Columbus Police Lt Matt Myers says this is a prime example of teamwork between police, the public and the media. The partnership he says is a deterrent to criminals.
