(WASHINGTON) - A Washington women was injured after pulling her vehicle in front of a Mack truck.
According to a Daviess County Police report, around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, 61-year old Harold Lyle, of Bloomington was driving a 2003 Mack Tri-Axel owned by Hanna Trucking, in Springville, southbound in the right hand lane of State Road 57 near County Road 450 South.
As Lyle approached a private drive, a 2006 Dodge Caravan driven by 64-year-old Marilyn Mattes, of Washington, pulled into the truck's path.
Lyle was unable to avoid the collision and both vehicles ended up in a ditch on the east side of the highway.
Police say the truck turned over onto the driver's side and partially spilling a load of asphalt. Mattes, was trapped in her vehicle and suffered multiple fractures.
She was taken to Daviess Community Hospital and then transferred to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
State Road 57 was closed south of Washington until approximately 1:40 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
The Daviess County Sheriff's Department, Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, Southwest Medical and Indiana State Police Motor Carrier Division responded to the accident scene.
