(BROWNSTOWN) - A 39-year-old Jackson County woman recently pleaded guilty to two counts of theft in connection with $23,298.73 she admitted taking from her former employee.
Aubrey Woods, of the Tribune reports, Jennifer S. Kinzie of Seymour, however, will not serve time in jail after reaching a plea agreement concerning the thefts from Seymour Animal Hospital.
Jackson Circuit Judge Bill Vance sentenced Kinzie to serve one year in jail on each count during a hearing Wednesday morning but suspended both sentences. Kinzie was placed on supervised probation and ordered to pay restitution of $21,500 to the animal hospital's insurance company at $200 a month until its paid.
Chief Deputy Prosecutor AmyMarie Travis said the agreement with Kinzie involved a "cold or open" plea in which a sentence is not part of the deal.
The judge decides the sentence, she said.
